Formation and Leadership
Governor-elect Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo appointed Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education and World Bank Vice President, as the chairperson of the 80-member Transition Committee. The committee comprised a diverse group of individuals selected based on their knowledge, character, excellence, diversity, integrity, inclusiveness, and professionalism. Notable members included Professor Pat Utomi, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, Chief Osita Chidoka, Dr. Alex Otti, and Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, among others.
Inauguration and Mandate
The committee was inaugurated on January 20, 2022, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Agulu, Anambra State. He reiterated that his campaign promises were not mere political statements but a social contract with the people of Anambra.
Local Government Transition Committees
In addition to the state-level Transition Committee, Governor Soludo inaugurated 21 Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen on August 2, 2022. These chairpersons were tasked with ensuring good governance, transparency, and accountability at the local government level. The chairpersons were appointed and confirmed by the Anambra State House of Assembly, with each local government council receiving a three-month mandate to serve.
Legacy and Impact
